Bulls Edge Central in Playoffs

Northwestern edges Central in playoff thriller
BY ANDRE C. FERNANDEZ a1fernandez@MiamiHerald.com
It's time to throw out the words ''youth'' and ''underdog'' when describing this year's Northwestern football team.
The Bulls are still the Bulls.
Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's 43-yard touchdown pass to senior Tyrell Lewis with 15 seconds to play secured a thrilling 38-32 victory against Central in a Region 4-6A semifinal in front of an estimated crowd of 15,000 at FIU Stadium.
Central quarterback Jefferey Godfrey's desperation pass as time expired was intercepted by Northwestern junior Kelly Alexander as the defending mythical national champion Bulls (11-1) avenged a loss to the Rockets earlier this season. Northwestern eliminated Central from the playoffs for the second time in three seasons.
Northwestern has won 41 of its past 42 games and advances to play Killian (10-2) on Friday in the Region 4-6A final at 7:30 p.m. at FIU Stadium.

The Bulls trounce the Generals

Northwestern dominates Jackson
in Soul Bowl

BY ALDEN GONZALEZ
Miami Herald Writer

There was a time -- not too long ago -- when the annual Soul Bowl between Northwestern and Jackson featured some of the most competitive football in South Florida.
Judging by the 2008 version, those days are long gone.
Northwestern went into halftime with a 26-point lead, outgained Jackson by 253 yards and barely broke a sweat in cruising to a 39-0 win Friday night at Traz Powell Stadium.
The Bulls (9-1) have won five consecutive Soul Bowls over Jackson (3-7) and just missed beating the Generals by at least 40 points for the third consecutive year. Jackson has not won the Soul Bowl since the last time it was a 6A school, in 2002.

Obama Inaugaral

CLASSMATES:
SO FAR I HAVE RECEIVED 18 CLASSMATE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING THE MOST HISTORICAL EVENT OF ALL TIMES IN WASHINGTON DC JANUARY 20, 2008.
AS YOU ALL ARE WELL AWARE OF THE EXCITEMENT GENERATED BY OBAMA BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT, THE INDIVIDUAL IS HAVING A HARD TIME AS FAR AS GETTING INFO. I.E. HOTELS (MAYBE RICHMOND VA, BALTIMORE MARYLAND AND POSSIBLE AS FAR AS NC), ACTIVITIES ONCE WE GET THERE, IT SEEMS THAT A TICKET IS REQUIRED FOR MOST EVENT, HE IS TRYING TO SEE WHAT OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT MAYBE WE CAN ATTEND THAT REQUIRES NO TICKET. ALSO THE CITY PROBABLY WILL BE UNDER LOCK DOWN AND GETTING INTO THE CITY DEFIANTLY WOULD BE A PROBLEM, HE'S TRYING TO GET INFO. ON WHERE THE BUS WILL PARK AND IF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WOULD BE PROVIDED TO GET US FROM POINT A TO B.
A LOT OF DETAILS NEEDS TO BE CHECKED.
REST ASSURE THAT I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ALL AS SOON AS I GET INFO. BECAUSE I WANT TO BE ABLE TO LOOK BACK AND SAY I WAS THERE, EVEN IF WE JUST DRIVE UP FOR THE ONE DAY AND COME BACK WOULD BE JUST FINE WITH ME. THAT WOULD BE THE ALTERNATE PLAN.
