Leadership Motors will donate $100 to the class for each referral that results in a Sale.

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.
This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's. Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

Northwestern taking great pains in order to atone

Still `hurt' after blowing a 21-0 lead in the 6A title game eight months ago, the Bulls vow to regroup and return to Orlando -- this time with a different result.
BY ANDRE C. FERNANDEZ
a1fernandez@MiamiHerald.com

The Bulls' bid for redemption began Monday.

With dozens of fans dropping by to watch them run drills in the morning and afternoon, Northwestern kicked off its first two-a-day practice session of the fall, as official workouts began statewide.

The Bulls hope it's the first step on a journey that finishes back in Orlando in December with the school's fifth state football championship in 15 seasons.

As usual, Northwestern will have to handle the high expectations that come with playing for a program that has won 43 of its past 45 games, two state titles and one national title in 2007.

And just like 2007, this year's Bulls are in striking distance of the mythical national crown.

Northwestern is ranked No. 3 nationally by the National Prep Football poll, behind defending champion Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas and Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.). The Bulls also are ranked No. 5 in the ESPN RISE Fab 50 preseason poll.

Northwestern will play one nationally televised game against bitter rival Central on Oct. 8 at FIU Stadium as part of a tough schedule that includes Dade powerhouses Carol City, Booker T. Washington and Columbus.

Northwestern has Two Silver Knight Winners

MUSIC

JARODA STRAPP

MIAMI NORTHWESTERN SENIOR HIGH

Inspired by her visually impaired mother, Jaroda created a program to bring together sighted and unsighted, young and old.

An active member of the Florida Council of the Blind, Jaroda struggled to find a way to relieve the isolation that can come with blindness and found her answer in music, creating a program that allows participants to interact through music. While volunteering countless hours, Jaroda also struggled to care for her mother, her 90-year-old grandmother, great aunt and autistic cousin, with whom she also lives.

She ranked second in her class of 475, has played in the marching band since ninth grade and last year was named the most outstanding junior band student. She was selected to participate in People to People, visiting Greece for her community service. She also performed for President Barack Obama.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

KY'EISHA WHITNEY PENN

MIAMI NORTHWESTERN SENIOR HIGH

Rather than be defeated by a personal hardship that included living in a shelter with a mother battling epilepsy, Ky'Eisha drew strength and became a founding member for a local chapter of the Harlem-based Zone Project.

The program creates a protective web for children in troubled areas, monitoring them from birth through college. As a member of the Zone's board, Ky'Eisha guides and inspires young children.

She received the Harvard book prize, is ranked in the top five percent of her class, completed summer enrichment courses at local universities and belongs to the National Honor Society. She also served as band captain and clarinet section leader and was president of her student government. She also performed for the president.

EBONY AND JET FINANCIAL COLLAPSE

EBONY AND JET FINANCIAL COLLAPSE
One of the Most notable permanent fixtures in Every Black Household(back
in the days), was the Ebony, and Jet Magazine. If you wanted to learn about your history, the plight of Black America, current issues facing Black Americans, how the Political Process of America affects you, how Politics works, who the hottest actors were, what time a particular Black Television show aired, who got married recently, who were the most Eligible Bachelors, and Bachelorettes in your town, what Cities had Black Mayors, Police Chiefs, School Superintendents, how to register to Vote, what cars offer the best value for the buck, who employed Black Americans, how to apply for College Scholarships, etc. More Than Likely, Ebony or Jet Magazine could help you find answers to those questions.

We have recently been informed that the Johnson Publishing Company Organization is currently going through a financial crisis. The company is attempting reorganization in order to survive. Many people have already lost their jobs with a company that has employed thousands of Black Americans during the course of its existence. In order to support this effort to save Our magazine, my friends and myself have pledged to get a subscription to
both, Ebony, and Jet magazine, starting with one year.

We are urging every other club member who comes across this plea, to do the same. Please post, re-post, and post again, to any Blog that you may own, or support. Please email this to every person that you know, regardless of their background.. Let them know that Ebony, and Jet magazine has been part of the Black American culture for 3 quarters of a century, and that there is a lot that they can learn about Black American culture from reading them.

We are currently discussing the idea of throwing an Ebony/Jet Party, where people can eat, drink, and sign up for their Subscription on the spot. Please spread this idea around to all that you know. Your Sororities, Fraternities, Lodges, VFW Posts, Churches, Civic Groups, Block Clubs, Caps Meetings, Book Clubs, etc.

It would be a crying shame, to lose our Historic Magazine, during the same year of such an Historic Event as the Election of our First Black President of the United States.

'72 Bull-Pam Braynon's Brother-In Memoriam

Family and Friends,

My brother Michael passed away today. He fought a long hard battle with multiple sclerosis. He was 59 on March 29th; he was diagnosed when he was 28 years old. So he has fought this fight for 31 years. He wasn't in pain during this ordeal, however it was such a struggle for him. Mom and myself are ok. For us there is a knowledge that he no longer has to struggle and he's at peace and he's with God. In lieu of flowers please make your donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in memory of Michael Braynon. Please make checks payable to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. You may mail the donations to me at 1270 N. W. 57th Street, Miami, FL 33142 and we will make sure they are forwarded to the society. I may be reached at 305 467-6474. Continue to keep us in your prayers.
Love ya,
Pam

AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS ARE NOT APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Even if you do not have a college-aged child at home, please share this with someone who does, and to anyone and everyone that comes to mind. Though there are a number of companies and organizations that have donated money for scholarships to African Americans, a great deal of the money is being returned because of a lack of interest or awareness.

No one is going to knock on our doors and ask if we can use a scholarship.
Take the initiative to get your children involved.! Money shouldn't be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for it.

Please pass this information on to family members, nieces, nephews, friends with children etc. We must get the word out that money is available. If you are a college student or getting ready to become one, you probably already know how useful additional money can be.
