Northwestern cruises into state semifinals

About the only thing Northwestern could be sad about Friday night was knowing it played its last game at FIU Stadium.
But the Bulls need not worry.
With the performances they are turning out, it might not matter where they play for what's left of the season.
After beating previously unbeaten Columbus and rival Central the past two weeks, Northwestern continued to make FIU feel like a second home Friday night by dominating Killian 40-15 in the Region 4-6A final in front of an estimated 9,000 fans.
The two-time defending Class 6A state champion Bulls (12-1) have won 42 of their past 43 games, and are two victories from becoming Dade's first team to win three consecutive state titles since the playoff format began in 1963.
